 A Biblioteca da Ajuda integra as atividades programadas para as Jornadas Europeias do Património 2023 com uma conferência no dia 22/09 pelas 15h00. 

Por este motivo estará encerrada à leitura durante o dia 22 de Setembro p. f., reabrindo no horário normal na segunda-feira, dia 25 de Setembro.

Palestra sobre as transformações ocorridas na Cosmologia e Filosofia natural da idade moderna a partir das descobertas promovidas pela navegação a uma escala global. Uma visão destes mudanças será apresentada por H. Darrel Rutkin da Univ. Ca’ Foscari a que se seguirá a apresentação e debate da recente publicação de Luís C. Ribeiro, complementado com a intervenção de Henrique Leitão. Paralelamente estarão expostas obras do acervo da BA relativas ao tema em debate. 

This lecture and debate will focus on the cosmology and natural philosophy transformations of the seventeenth century prompted by global navigations and the celestial discoveries made with the telescope. Researcher H. Darrel Rutkin from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice will offer an overview of these changes.

The lecture will be followed by a presentation and debate on the recently published book “Jesuit Astrology: Prognostication and Science in Early Modern Culture” by Luís Campos Ribeiro with the author, H. Darrel Rutkin and Henrique Leitão.

After the debate, there will be a small exhibition of some of the Ajuda astrological manuscripts addressed in “Jesuit Astrology”
